NGP and NGPAF are vibrant, independent, fast-paced, non-partisan voter registration and civic organizations that have seen explosive growth in the last twelve months and are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. NGP and NGPAF seek a passionate, energetic, and motivated professional that will join our Field department who are responsible for spreading voter awareness to minority communities throughout Georgia.
Canvassers are one of the most important positions we have, as our organization was built on direct voter contact. We are seeking a well-organized, self-starter for a full-time or part-time, temporary position as Canvasser. The Canvasser will report to their direct Office Manager.
The ideal candidate exemplifies a goal-orientated professional who is committed to all the issues we work on from voting rights to health care and everything in between and establishing everlasting relationships with who they interact with. Because our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds, applicants need to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Canvassing local areas in an effort to register Georgians to vote
Knowing and following all of Georgia’s voter registration laws and adhering to those rules at all times
Ability to engage in thoughtful and respectful conversations with voters throughout Georgia. (non-partisan of course!); and
Record and regularly sync data from the day's shift into our database using your smartphone.
At least 18 years old
Comfortable walking or standing for extended periods of time
Comfortable working outside and in different weather conditions
Must have transportation to various work sites around your assigned office
Must have a working smartphone
Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams, personalities and expectations.
Committed to voter education
Maintain a can do, innovative and solutions-oriented attitude in all situations, especially tough situations
Strong sense of organization and time management skills
Ability to work in collaboration with a team
Strong sense of urgency while remaining calm under pressure
Commitment to the mission of NGP/NGPAF.
Canvassing experience (as staff or as a volunteer)
Experience working with database systems
Scope and Impact:
The candidate will have a passion and commitment for NGP’s and NGPAF’s mission, history, and its work. They will understand how this role contributes to the overall mission, drawing inspiration for the position of Canvasser from the community. The Canvasser will be an inspiring and empathic individual of unquestioned integrity, ethics and values, treating others with respect. Additionally, this position has recurring work situations that involve having a high degree of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and routines is high.

Location : We are currently hiring canvassers for the following locations: Metro Atlanta, College Park, Gwinnett, Albany, Augusta, and Macon
Primarily works outdoors in different weather conditions
Due to COVID, canvassers are required to follow COVID protocols including wearing face masks at all times
Frequently required to come within 6 feet of a person often during your shift.
It is the Canvasser’s duty to make every effort to adhere to Social Distancing guidelines.
May travel over 1 mile on foot during your shift.
May infrequently lift and/or move up to 20lbs
Compensation and Benefits:
Part Time: Salary is $20/hr. Part-time canvassers can work a maximum of 25 hours per week.
Full-Time: Salary is $20/hour with a maximum of 40 hours per week with the opportunity for benefits. Overtime must be pre-approved by the Deputy Field Director.
