TAX AUDITOR III
What would my job duties be as a Tax Auditor III with the Department of Revenue?
This position conducts research and analyzes data for the Department of Revenue’s (Department) General Tax Administration (GTA) program.
Typical job duties include :
Audit one or more taxes or help perform moderately complex business
audits for the various Florida taxes
Analyze accounting systems of taxpayers to identify additional liabilities
or tax evasion, or to verify refunds in the case of tax overpayment
Compute tax assessments or refund adjustments based upon audit
evidence and data
Prepare reports of audit results and make recommendations for
taxpayer compliance
Conduct closing conferences with taxpayers and/or taxpayers’
representatives; explain applicable laws and facts that support changes in tax liabilities and attempt to secure an agreement for audit report findings
What knowledge, skills and abilities do I need to succeed in this position?
To succeed in this position, you must: • Know accounting or auditing methods, principles and procedures • Know methods used to verify and analyze data • Be able to review, analyze, evaluate and interpret financial data • Be able to extract and disseminate tax information • Be able to examine and audit financial records and prepare audit reports
What are the minimum qualifications for this position?
To qualify for the Tax Auditor III position, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with a minimum of four accounting courses.
