Job Description

The Director of Accounting and Financial Services must possess strong communication, organizational, technology and leadership skills as well as have comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Director’s primary roles are to monitor, supervise and evaluate all daily accounting activities and to collect, analyze verify and report a myriad of financial information.  The position is expected to work effectively with the Chief Financial Officer, other members of the accounting team and staff partners across the organization. 

 

Some of the duties include:

  • Direct the day-to-day actions of the accounting department
  • Responsible for ensuring the execution of all daily, weekly and monthly accounting activities, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition and deposits, credit card processing, purchase orders, invoices, payroll processing, and month end close.
  • Ensure timely filing of agency’s tax filings
  • Provide timely and accurate financial statements
  • Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Support special event financial needs including petty cash, credit card processing, bank deposit, and event budget reconciliation.
  • Track in-kind donations in the financial records
  • Examine accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards within the department
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
  • Support internal and external audit of financial processes and statements
  • Serve as back-up for payroll processing, when necessary
  • Assist with developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Work with CFO in developing the agency annual budget as well as budgets for various funding opportunities and special projects.
  • Work with CFO on monthly and year-end journal entries and preparing annual audit schedules and documentation
  • Stay abreast of changes within the field

 

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline, required; proficiency in accounting software programs, MIP preferred; and working knowledge of FASB standards related to nonprofit entities.  The candidate must also possess 3 years’ accounting management experience; a demonstrated expert skill level with Microsoft Excel (nested IF statements, VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, macros, etc.); and nonprofit accounting experience, preferred.

Job description:

The Director is responsible for leading individual giving, and stewarding donor support for LMM programs, strategic priorities and fundraising initiatives.  The Director will create a Donor Engagement & Moves Management Plan, with support from the VP of Development & Communications, and strategize and steward contributions of annual gifts, major gifts, planned gifts, and legacy gifts. This person is also responsible for coordinating two major fundraising appeals each year and various program specific funding appeals with department leaders as needed.

 

Some of the duties include:

  • Participate in the creation and execution of the Donor Engagement & Moves Management Plan to secure contributions to LMM
  • Coordinate fundraising appeals with Communications Staff and program leaders to ensure development materials are compelling, complete and up to date
  • Implement strategies to ensure coordination between various fundraising campaigns and solicitations
  • Build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of LMM, its funding priorities, and giving opportunities
  • Manage and grow the portfolio of our active donors
  • Facilitate moves management of donors, including prospecting research and strategy implementation
  • Collaborate with agency programs and other initiatives to engage donors and volunteers in programs
  • Develop and maintain reporting and tracking methods for fund development prospects
  • Maintain accurate records of charitable giving and giving ranges for donors
  • Track and assess committed pledges, payments and totals
  • Participate in the planning and execution of special events, annual agency fundraiser(s), etc.
  • Make presentations to major donors, community groups and entities about the agency
  • Attend special events as a representative of our agency when needed

 

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or public relations preferred, OR an Associate’s Degree and 7+ years of fundraising experience. The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience with annual campaigns, major gifts, or planned giving and a minimum of 5 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, public relations/marketing.  Experience with donor CRM’s/database, a valid Ohio driver license and proof of insurance, required.

Job description:

Staff Guardian serves as the legally appointed Guardian of Person for incompetent adults and acts in accord with their best interest as an advocate and substitute decision-maker in the care and management of their ward’s personal and/or financial affairs. Guardianship Services provides services to residents of Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

 

Some of the duties include:

  • Manages a full caseload of wards
  • Regularly visits with wards. Routinely requires visits to 4-6 different community locations weekly
  • Contacts/intervenes with family members and other service providers
  • Arranges for benefits and other entitlements for which the ward needs and is eligible
  • Makes decisions (e.g. appropriate living arrangement, medical care, funeral arrangements) for wards as required
  • Communicates all major life decisions regarding wards to supervisors, prior to acting on the decisions (i.e. move from nursing home to community, major medical decision)
  • Attends guardianship hearings at Cuyahoga and/ or Lorain County Probate Court, as needed
  • Prepares and maintains, through the database, a record of all work-related activities and contacts performed on behalf of the ward
  • Prepares all documents required by Probate Court
  • Maintains a working knowledge of community resources
  • Availability, via cell phone, 24 hours/day, seven days/week
  • Comfortable asserting self in role of advocate
  • Develops productive working relationships with all Adult Guardian Services Staff, Probate Court and providers of service

 

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in health and human services, or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience serving the severely mentally disabled, the elderly or other vulnerable populations.  Additional experience in fields of long-term care, dementia and related illnesses, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, and related areas desirable.
