Job Description

FOODSERVICE WORKER

JOB SUMMARY:

This is general foodservice work involving the preparation, presentation and serving of food. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation area, serving area, and dining room facility. Sometimes included may be cashiering duties such as making cash transactions, giving change, counting cash receipts and filling out cash reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares basic food items according to company production records.
  • Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approves food recipes in following prescribed production standards.
  • Ensures standard portion control and maintain proper serving temperatures (keeping hot food hot and cold food cold).
  • Follows procedures for the proper set-up and clean-up of cafeteria serving line.
  • Carefully enters all sales into cash register to ensure that all purchases are accurately recorded.
  • Makes customer transactions in a reasonable and timely fashion
  • Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash received to ensure that cashier station is in compliance with overage/shortage requirements.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations involving Unites States monetary units (add, subtract, multiple, divide).
  • Represents company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer and employee interactions
  • Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
  • Maintains work area, equipment, and dining facilities in a clean and presentable manner.
  • Serves customers food and beverage order quickly in proper portions with a courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers in order to assure compliance with company service standard, and company inventory and cash control procedures.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have ability to observe in order to ensure proper food presentation and standard portion control

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally and 10 – 30 pounds regularly.

FOOD UNIT LEAD (FULL TIME)

Job Summary

Summary: Coordinates activities of other food-service employees. Creates an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality customer service by providing one-on-one attention to detail.
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standard for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
  • Helps plan menus.
  • Ensures timely, efficient meal service, supervises serving of meals.
  • Responds to customer complaints in person at the time of the complaint and via email for electronic complaints.
  • Trains employees; assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites work flow.
  • Uses proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory-cash reports-production records, payroll and time – keeping.
  • Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits – petty cash – change funds).
  • Orders food and other necessary supplies from approved sources and purveyors.
  • Directs and participates in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
  • Develops sanitation schedule and ensures food-service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Help select and orient employees; oversees staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
